2005 Year of the Rooster
Shuai Chiao Tournament
February 12th
at The Ohio State University
Celebrating 20 years of Shuai Chiao in Larkins Hall
Thanks to all the participants in what was
the historic LAST Shuai Chiao Kungfu tournament in Larkins Hall.
This Spring and Summer we will be moving to the new RPAC facility.
Larkins Hall will be demolished, and a new PAES building will
rise on the site. This last tournament was smaller than some
in the past but very successful. There were no major injuries,
and despite the tough round-robin format, not a single contestant dropped
out or forfeited a match. A total of 23 Shuai Chiao students from
four separate schools participated in 42 matches over a two hour period.
Extra thanks to the ring referees who donated their time and expertise:
Tim Braun, John Ervin, Matt Mollica, Jerry Sheldon, and Jeff Williams, and
to announcer Suzanne Heckman, and the ring timers and scorekeepers. Also,
thanks to former Club members of over a decade ago, Al Karnai and Jonathan
Thomas, who came in to help with the tournament.

* Note:
Due to an error reading the grids, Ben Tomson and Matthew Corbett's
places were reversed at the awards ceremony. In our round-robin
tournament it is possible for players to tie; each with the same number
of matches won. In such a case, the player who won their match
with each other takes the higher place. It was mistakenly recorded
that Mr.Tomson had won the match with Mr.Corbett: in fact, their match
was a scoreless tie. Mr.Corbett takes the higher place because he
scored a total of 13 throwing points for the tournament, compared to Mr.Tomson's
10 points. We apologize for the error.
